Dr. N. Seshagiri |

|
Dr. N. Seshagiri is the first Task Force
Committee Chairperson of BTISNET, DBT, Govt. of India.
He is the Founder and Former Director-General of the National
Informatics Centre (NIC). He has been the Secretary of
the Department of Technology and Planning Commission.
Dr. Seshagiri was a scientist at the Tata Institute of
Fundamental Research, Mumbai, from 1966 to 1971. In 1971,
he joined as Director of Information, Planning and Analysis
Group of the Electronics Commission, Government of India.
In 1975, he founded NIC and was its Director-General till
2000. While heading NIC, he held additional responsibilities,
first as Additional Secretary, the Department of Electronics,
then as Special Secretary in the Planning Commission,
and Special Secretary |
in the Ministry of Information
Technology. Currently, he is Emeritus Scientist in the
CSIR Centre for Mathematical Modeling and Computer Simulation
at Bangalore, Chairman of Research Council of National
Institute of Science Communication and Information Resources
of CSIR, and Technology Adviser, HCL Infosystems Ltd.
Dr. Seshagiri is Fellow of the Indian Academy of Sciences,
National Academy of Sciences, Indian National Academy
of Engineering, The Institution of Electronics and Telecom
Engineers and CSI. He has authored and edited eight books
each, and authored 85 research papers. He received the
Padma Bhushan in 2005. Dr. Seshagiri got his PhD in computers
and telecom from the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore. |

He was the second Task Force chairperson
of BTISNET during the period 1997-2003. He is a microbial
biotechnologist working in Madurai Kamaraj University,
Madurai. He is a recipient Shanthi Swarup Bhatnagar Prize
for the year 1992 - Biological Sciences. He is a elected
fellow of Indian Academy of Sciences, 1992, Guha Research

Prof. A.S. Kolaskar the third Chairperson
of BTISNET during the period 2003-2009 and continuing
as the member of BTISNET Task Force since its inception
in 1987. He has a career of over 30 years marked by numerous
accomplishments in bioinformatics research, teaching,
mentoring and managing large academic institutions with
outstanding success acknowledged by numerous national
and international awards, fellowships and recognitions.
Currently he is the Advisor to the National Knowledge
Commission of India, Managing Director, DSK Global Education
and Research Pvt Ltd. Earlier he was the Vice Chancellor, |
