BTISNET - Sub-Distributed Information Centre

  The Bioinformatics centre at CARI runs under the Biotechnology Information System Network (BTISnet) programme of DBT, Ministry of Science & Technology and government of India. The Distributed Information Sub Centre (Sub-DIC) established at Central Agricultural Research Institute, Port Blair, in the year 2005. This Bioinformatics centre is to develop databases on Biodiversity of Andaman & Nicobar Islands, which would provide information to taxonomists, ecologists, biodiversity management specialists, policy makers, planners & related entrepreneurs to store, manage, and exchange electronically published scientific information in standard format.
This centre can serves as an active site for bioinformatics research and development in the remote union territory of Andaman and Nicobar Islands. It provides computational support and training to students and scientist and offers traineeships and studentships to deserving bioinformatics students.
