The Bioinformatics Centre is
actively involved in human resource development and R&D
activities in the area of Bioinformatics and serves as
nodal point for industry-academia-public institution interaction.
The park is extending support to researchers for computational
data analysis and provides hands-on training in bioinformatics
applicable to the field of agri- and pharma biotechnology,
in-silico product development, molecular modeling and
drug development. The Centre continued to host the website
www.dbtjatropha.gov.in for DBT funded project ‘National
Database on Jatropha’.
During the current year it
strengthened its capabilities by procuring SYBLE-X software
with drug designing modules and developed four databases
relevant to the need of industries & the researchers
and conducted three workshops.
Major research activities
Collaborative programme with
the Chhatrapati Shahuji Maharaj Medical University Lucknow
was continued. Three persons are working for the Ph.D
degree in collaboration and one student has been awarded
Research Associate ship of ICMR to work on “A study
of Dengue hemorrhagic fever using bioinformatics tools.”
Forty-five research projects were pursued by trainees
in area of genome analysis, evolutionary bioinformatics,
molecular modeling, docking, primer designing and proteomics
study of hepatitis delta virus and Hepatitis B virus;
subtractive genome analysis in Mycoplasma Pneumoniae;
potential target identification for Japanese Encephalitis
virus; Evolutionary study of hepatitis virus; siRNA molecules
designing against geminivirus; drug target identification
for HLADR-B1 Protein of human and prion protein; Structure
based herbal drug designing for diabetes.
