North Eastern State - Bioinformatics Infrastructure Facility
TRIPURA UNIVERSITY, SURYAMANI
NAGAR, TRIPURA.
Bioinformatics Centre was established
in the premises of Tripura University during 2008. The centre
is placed at the second floor of Academic Building II with
two laboratories.
The BIF extending the facility
for teaching biology through bioinformatics through the
year. The centre carried out several innovative works through
workshop, seminar, class room training and teaching programmes
etc. during last three years.
Major research activities
Studies are going on Development of database on Rare
and Freshwater Fishes of Tripura.
Studies are also going on “Collection of Germplasm,
Identification and development of database on Ompok
bimaculatus, Ompok pabda and Ompok pabo of N-E India”.
Studies on Ompok bimaculatus is funded by DST, Government
of India.
Research studies are going on in Collaboration with
National Bureau of Fish Genetic Resources, Lucknow under
DBT-Twinning project entitled “Genetic Characterization
and Conservation Biology of an Siluroid Fish species
Ompok pabda of Tripura”, funded by DBT, Government
of India since February 2011.
