North Eastern State - Bioinformatics Infrastructure
Facility
INDIAN INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY,

The Department of Biotechnology,
Ministry of Science & Technology, Govt of India has
sponsored the Bioinformatics Infrastructure Facility (BIF)
of Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati in 2010. During
the past few months, the department of Biotechnology at
IIT Guwahati has initiated the establishment of BIF. A suitable
space to set up the facility has been identified and necessary
approval has been obtained. A sub-committee for the purchase
of the proposed equipment has been constituted and purchase
process is initiated.
Major research activities
Molecular modeling, DNA/RNA and
protein sequence analysis are currently performed with the
available free bioinformatics software.
