The Bioinformatics Centre at
University of Pune has designed, coordinated and conducted
BINC examinations on behalf of Department of Biotechnology
(DBT), Govt of India during 2005-2010. The centre also
served as a nodal agency to manage BINC fellowship program.
The online registration portal, various SOPs, publication
formats and an exhaustive system of post-examination analysis
were developed over the years. The academic development
viz. syllabus for the examination and examination pattern
was developed with the help of a national coordination
committee under the chairmanship of Prof. A. S. Kolaskar.

| The examinations were conducted
at seven centers of BTIS network. A booklet stating rules
and regulations of BINC fellowship was designed and published
in 2009. |
| Major research activities
|

|
- The syllabus for M.Sc. Bioinformatics was revised
in a major way and is being implemented from the academic
year 2010-11.
- The centre appointed 4 faculty members in December
2010.
- Mr. Vivek Kumar Singh was awarded Ph.D. in Bioinformatics
by the University of Pune.
- M.Sc. students participated in data curation activity
coordinated by Institute of Bioinformatics, Bangalore
under academia-industry interactions
