Synthetic Biology, Molecular Modeling & drug design,
Bio-sequence compression, Venom informatics.
The project on Snake Venom detection Biosensor (SVDB)
provides a system and method for detecting quantitative
extent of envenomation and to monitor the venom clearance
from the body using species specific diagnostic biosensor.
Using this technology we can determine dose of monovalent
Anti-snake Venom (ASV) required to be administered to
the victims bitten by poisonous snake. The digital electronic
circuitary has been developed and tested at the bio-chemistry-electronics
interface is under development.
To complement the insilico biology work going on at the
Department, a well equipped microbiology and bioelectronics
lab has been set up recently. This provides complete research
facility for microbiology, molecular biology, phytochemistry,
bioelectronics and clinical studies. Snake venom detection
bio-sensor development, miRNA validation, CR-3 receptor
agonist’s longevity study and also on bio-active
compound isolation are some of the major projects that
are on. With the establishment of the wet lab, a long
felt balance of bio and informatics has been achieved
