The establishment of this
centre has facilitated to create a forum for interaction
of students and teachers of various institutions/colleges
located in the districts of Guntur, Prakasham and Krishna,
which was spread over several rural areas with the University
teachers and provide training in Computational Biology
to under graduate and post-graduate students in this area
by conducting bioinformatics workshops and seminars at
University BIF centre. It is providing mentorship to within
the University departments of Botany, Zoology, Microbiology
and Biochemistry and providing teaching facility of Bioinformatics
in the post graduate curriculum. Bioinformatics Facility
establishment has facilitated the University Science department
to provide the innovation in biology teaching and is well
supported by the bioinformatics tools and resources for
the enhancement of learning capabilities in Biology and
Biotechnology subjects. And it has also initiated multi-institutional
consortium projects in bioinformatics to address the various
specific problems through bioinformatics approach. Bioinformatics
and experimental biology collaborative projects are being
considered, so as to improve the contribution of bioinformatics
in wet lab biotechnology research. The University has
introduced a PG Diploma Bioinformatics course through
CDC department. It promotes the research in use of computational
tools for molecular biology, genetics, protein chemistry,
and biochemistry research at different levels of education
and center offers in-depth workshops on topics ranging
from DNA, RNA and protein sequence analysis to database
searching, genomic predictions and molecular modeling
